James River Star Party

James River State Park, Nov. 13-14:  The park is an official Dark Sky Park and has long been an enthusiastic supporter of astronomy and dark-sky preservation, and we are thrilled to return.

There is no charge to participate and camp, but attending astronomers are asked to assist with public outreach during the early evening hours both nights. We usually host a crowd of eager, curious visitors, and this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the park’s vibrant dark skies through our telescopes.

Public Hours for Park Visitors each night: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Location: James River State Park (Buckingham County, VA), observing location is the field adjacent to Shelter #4.  Google map link:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/ypd1ieU8oqW5HMdT7.  The park address is 104 Green Hill Dr., Gladstone, VA 24553.
